The ability to get your shin parallel to the ground on a routine play is a staple in playing below the ball. Hip/ankle mobility is a must. INF's with stiffness in the lower half have trouble sinking their hips to stay under the ball. A simple sway drill with a ball and a wall

With all of the shifting involved in infield play, the traditional double play pivot from 2nd base has changed a bit. The distance of the throw in some instances has become extremely long when positioned deep in the 4 hole. A stronger base is a must to get enough on the DP feed.

Power feed from 2nd base is a great way to get the ball firmly to your SS. Firm feeds are always easier for a SS to transfer/turn. Glove position is key when getting the ball out to avoid the ball getting stuck/throwing off the timing of the play. Be firm/put it on his chin.

This was such a great relay from Alcides Escobar to nab Pete Alonzo at the plate. The 1st throw was so far off line that he couldn't turn glove side. This is such a tough throw when turning away from your throwing arm. He made it look easy and put the ball right on the money.

If you have infielders who constantly get stuck or have dead feet. This might help. There is a little piece on rhythm and how to maintain it through the catch. #ShortstopU

Some video from yesterday's infield clinic in San Diego. Great dialog with some great coaches. Always fun talking infield play/finding new ways to help players achieve their dreams. Also, got hang out with some old friends at the AC Underclass games. San Diego never disappoints.

**Reading hops** Being able to control your small steps is important when selecting the correct hop. Some amateurs struggle with this causing poor timing, poor alignment and running yourself into tough hops. Good infielders are able to play at different speeds when needed.

I see a lot of infielders off balance when going to their right on DP feeds. Foundation is key when making this type of feed. Once the foundation is laid it's easier to make adjustments concerning arm angle and maintaining posture throughout the play. Keep getting better fellas!

I'm 💯% for transferring the ball in the center of my body. I also know that U better have a full tool box of different transfers when it comes to playing SS at the highest level. When trained correctly U can have freedom/confidence to make plays w/out sacrificing ball security.

Beating the ball to the spot allows your lower half to get in position to throw efficiently. Cut the distance if you can and get your hips cleared to throw. Lower half slightly staggered while shoulders remain square to the ball. Efficiency w/out sacrificing ball security is 🔑
