Andrea Leadsom claiming this vote is to restore confidence in the way MPs are held to account is baffling. Allowing confirmation of a unanimous report recommending suspension of Owen Paterson for ‘egregious breach’ of rules would have been a more effective way of achieving that.

Absolute silence as House listens to Chris Bryant says amendment will "drive coach and horses" through standards system. "Retrospective legislation to favour or damage an individual because they are a friend or a foe is immoral and the polar opposite of the rule of law."

Can’t see this ending well for Parliament, democracy, and probably even the Tories. It was a public backlash against sleaze that brought them down last time & I suspect it will again.
