A rare glimps of two Irish #greypartridge, the result of a successful re-introduction project which saved them from almost certain extinction in Ireland.

I showed this farmer in South Yorkshire how to build a perfect Game&WildConTrust #beetlebank today. Why? Because he is seriously passionate about recovering his red-listed #greypartridge. With currently 5 pairs and a covey of 7 in the stubble right next to the bank, I'm sure he will succeed.

Note the quite large horseshoe on the hen's lower breast (the bird in the foreground on the left-hand picture). #Birders often confuse such individuals with male grey partridges. Also note the white supersillium (eyebrow stripe), which cocks never have, but some hens do.

This mountain range near Sanabria in north-western Spain is home to the Pyrenäen #greypartridge, an endangered subspecies of Perdix perdix. At 1600-2000m.a.s.l, this population is as tough as a partridge gets. Several in this group were lucky to see for themselves last week.
