I’m becoming skeptical of notetaking to remember things outside formally studying something. By noting everything and going back to it, you aren’t letting memory filter the garbage. You remember what matters anyway.

I love finding a completely new hierarchy. Recently started BJJ and within the gym there is no status except grappling ability and (by proxy) belt color. I have no idea what anyone does outside the gym and it doesn't matter at all. Extremely refreshing.

It feels like writing pre-1900 just completely ignored the throat clearing and qualification that everything written today does. You didn't bother citing multiple studies or noting every possible counterexample, you just said stuff in the strongest possible terms.

Our world would make far more sense to us if we took these texts we think of as myths completely at face value than the current norm of rejecting them as unenlightened silliness. The truth is somewhere in between, but we miss so much by rejecting everything we can't verify.
