I’m watching a game on my television that is being recorded with high tech cameras. Then video feeds are shot to space to bounce off of satellites and send down to my receiver. But we’re using human judgement to determine where a ball is down and measuring it with a chain. 🤯

Great thread here for anyone in the process and thinking about or actively trying to pursue Orthopedics as a career (or really any competitive residency). #orthomatch #Unmatched #orthotwitter

This is a great educational idea. Being a visual learner, I wish I had this when I was a resident. I shared it with my arthroplasty rep and he absolutely ate it up. He had such an understanding of the tools and instruments but never learned the concepts of application. Until now!

This! When I see a patient who thinks they HAVE to have surgery, I start my counseling by reminding them that I’m a surgeon, and my favorite thing to do is operate. It reinforces the fact that I’m thinking about THEIR best interest when I recommend nonoperative treatments first.

Exactly my concern. Sometimes it’s not the patella, but sometimes it is! I don’t like to guess and is why I’ve continued resurfacing in the vast majority of my primary knees.

Have you ever noticed how much more expensive things get because of where they happen? If I buy water at a gas station, it’s $1. But if I buy it at an airport, it’s $47: same water, different vibe. Healthcare is kind of like that. You get a procedure done at a health

The key is the contracts CEOs of self insured companies sign. You may not understand why, but the healthcare insurance and PBM contracts YOU have signed for Tesla, SpaceX , X, along with CEOs of other big companies , have more impact on healthcare costs and quality of care

This guy who left medicine for politics is preaching to us about ā€œdedicationā€œ and ā€œdevotionā€ to patient care. Okie dokie.

Everyone talks about physician compensation. Almost no one talks about overhead. We debate how much CMS pays. Why procedural specialties are paid more. How physicians are reimbursed. But that misses the real driver of dysfunction: The single most expensive, least addressed
