I met with Alicia Kearns MP, Shadow Minister for Safeguarding & Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls, yesterday to talk grooming gangs, transcripts, court processes, and potential amendments to the Crime & Policing Bill. The Conservatives are doing good stuff here.

The latest transcript update on the back of this, - we have identified 450~ defendants across 90 trials and have at this point requested sentencing remarks for 1/2 of those available They’re being reviewed and will be released in a format that I’m super excited to show you

I've written with Adam Wren about part of our experience requesting transcripts for grooming gang trials. Some courts approved identical requests that others flatly refused, explicitly because some judges presume we'd act in bad faith. (🔗 below)

Why are some courts refusing to release transcripts of the rape gang trials, ask Adam Wren and Melisa Tourt. The transcripts contain valuable information about the cases, but not all courts are cooperating with requests. dailysceptic.org/2025/04/15/why…

EXCL GB News: Robert Jenrick demands Labour releases 'censored' grooming gang trial transcripts after judge says their release is not in the public interest gbnews.com/politics/groom…

Really happy and grateful to see Jenrick give this the attention it deserves. A simple response from Mahmood backing the release of grooming gang transcripts would go a long way in substantiating our applications, making the releases much more likely. Let’s see what she says.

Historic grooming gang trial transcripts must be published. Transparency is critical. If some judges continue to block access -and the Justice Secretary won’t intervene- the public are entitled to ask whose interests are really being protected?

Very happy with this, Financial Times reporting a few weeks ago mentioned new Labour MPs raising a national inquiry for the first time off the back of constituent emails. Keen for this to be spread as widely as possible so we'll also be testing a limited run of ads on Meta & X

The Home Office is OVER A WEEK late responding to our FOI on the status of the 5 pilot local inquiries, with no explanation for delay. These are straightforward questions that the Home Office should readily be able to answer, unless there has been a significant change of plans

I went on GBN to discuss the newsnight misrepresentation, Matt asks me a question at the end that I think it important - how can we get justice? I genuinely believe the best route for now is to email your MP, there’s an easy form you can use to do this, link in next post
