I want to publicly thank anyone who has supported me on this journey to and through entrepreneurship…

I haven’t (yet) had many of the typical celebratory moments for my age group. Engagement, wedding, baby showers, etc.

So when people show up for me for my moments that DO matter it means the world to me and I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart

When I first gained the majority of my followers on Instagram, I had unintentionally been launched into the natural hair influencer space while capturing my “no heat” journey…

It was so organic and spontaneous because, at the time, Instagram was still this fun and innocent platform where people went to play adult show & tell and nothing was off limits

Leaning into the natural hair space presented many great opportunities, including my viral TED Talk, and some really great women who have now become close friends

But at some point I KNEW I wanted to pivot because I didn’t see a future in reviewing different hair products each week on YouTube for pennies. Having the “job” of Influencer was nowhere near as acknowledged or as lucrative (in 2016) as it is today.

It took a while for me to find my pivot point, but to those who’ve stuck around since my natural hair influencer/ model/host days… y’all the real MVPs

Now, pivoting from micro influencer to entrepreneur is such a full circle moment because similar rules apply: 1) Share your story and you’ll connect with the right ppl. 2) Remain authentic; don’t try to be someone else. 3) Aim to help. The engagement and money will follow.

The people who want to love you, will. The people who want to hate you will do that too. And the beautiful thing is that no matter what they do, you remain as you are. Unfazed.

Don’t confuse “change” with the development of something was already there

This is your sign to pursue the thing you want but don’t think you’ll get. I just got a free PREMIUM pass to 3-day conference in Miami Beach, FL with a crazy lineup of keynote speakers that I did not think I would get. I applied anyway. Now me and my team going to MIAMI!!!!!

I have a story for those who don’t buy into the manifestation narratives…

Before I had a business, I only had fragmented thoughts and some pretty intense feelings

Meditation helped me to quiet the noise enough to organize my thoughts into more well-defined values and goals

Journaling helped me to visualize those values and goals, and turn them into plans. It also served as an encyclopedia of my own ideas that could reference anytime I veered off course… which happens

Eventually things became a little more concrete, more tangible and recognizable as an actual business venture.

To think, that little urge bubbling inside of you that even you don’t fully understand, can one day turn into something that other ppl can align themselves with, be impacted by, and participate in. THAT’S manifestation ya’ll.

Watching Glo and JT go back and forth on here and all I can think is: *you’re *you’re *you’re *you’re
