Female adders do not usually breed every year. During a breeding year individuals may stop growing and lose one third of their body mass. [Photo credit: Tigerente, commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vipe…] #FridayFact

If you spot our any of our project teams at any events near you, do stop and say hi, our tables are normally filled with lots of herp-related goodies like below. You can pick up a copy of our #JustAddWater pond guide or one of our informational #UrbanTails species guides!

#Adders out and about on Sunday! These males were observed warming up in the morning sun getting ready for breeding season! It is important to not disturb the adders at this time of year by keeping a respectful distance so they have the best chance of successfully mating
