Third graders are playing in new shoes thanks to NAEC's Sole Power Project. For 11 years, NAEC has given shoes in Calico Rock, Cave City, Cotter, Highland, Hillcrest, Izard County Consolidated, Mammoth Spring, Melbourne, Mountain Home, Norfork, Salem and Viola school districts.

The 3,725 members served by the Salem 1 and 2 substations will experience an outage beginning at 11 p.m. Dec. 4. The outage should last one hour and is necessary so that personnel can perform maintenance safely. Affected members will receive an automated call this afternoon.

Members served by Henderson Substation will experience a brief outage tonight, Jan. 2. It will begin at 11 p.m. and last about 10 minutes. Crews must replace vital equipment in the substation. Affected members will receive an automated call this afternoon.

NAEC personnel are responding to scattered outages affecting a total of 241 member accounts. We've received no reports of broken poles or trees on lines. The biggest issue has been the weight of the snow causing energized lines to sag into the neutral and burn through.
