Recently, we hosted a group of NU Students students who had never visited Northumberland National Park before. The group was organised and led by one of our volunteers, Anette, who is a lecturer at Newcastle University.

As we continue celebrating 75 years of #NationalTrails, here’s an example of how we maintain the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail and enhance its accessibility in 75 seconds by installing a wicket gate in place of a stone step-stile to the east of Housesteads. #showusyour75

Take care around around rivers and streams in the park. Water can be cold even on warm days and strong currents can be disguised.

Watch out, caterpillar coming through. This beautiful photo was captured by ranger Guy whilst on the boardwalk at Greenlee Lough. The photo features an emperor moth, swipe to see what it becomes. Emperor moths are the only large moth with eye spots on all four wings.

One word: magnificent! Ranger Mark captured this wonderful photo of the stone cairn on Cold Law with views of Hedgehope and Scald Hill in the Harthope Valley. Walking up the various hills in The Cheviots is no easy task but, the views are most definitely worth it.

Recently, our Farming in Protected Landscapes project enabled 12 farmers from our National Park, to go on a study trip to the Scottish Highlands to take part in a knowledge exchange about several beneficial topics identified by farmer groups.
