#NancyTalks: saying no Everyone’s making lists right now. Goals for the new year. Fresh priorities. Big plans. I’m doing the opposite. I’m asking: What am I not doing in 2026? Every “yes” in 2026 is also a “no” to something else. So you might as well choose consciously.

Fresh perspectives … As the year draws to an end, I’m asking: Where do I need to pause? What can I release? What truly matters? The work is never done, but neither is the need for reflection. What would change if you made space for it?

With so much division and uncertainty in our communities, it’s worth considering who feels like they belong and who still has to work to prove they deserve a seat at the table. Let’s see who is missing from the table and invite them in.

Have you ever walked into a room and scanned it for someone who looks like you, thinks like you or has had the same experiences as you? Imagine never finding that person. Imagine always being the only one. The first one. That’s the reality for many people.

#NancyTalks: progress Not all progress is visible. Some of the most meaningful growth happens quietly – through better decisions, a shift in perspective or a clearer boundary. If something changes internally, it still counts as progress.

I haven’t done a spontaneous road trip in a while. This morning, I rediscovered the joy of them – the feeling of something new, of adventure. No maps, no agenda, just a good playlist, good company and the open road. It reminded me what weekends are for! 📸 Pixabay

Fresh perspectives … Real listening is real work. It also has benefits – listening with intention and responding thoughtfully creates the sense of belonging and inclusion that colleagues need to feel safe. When people feel safe, they are more engaged and productive.

I love this quote! Getting up every morning to do what’s needed to make a meaningful contribution to the economy, the community and to life itself can, and often does, take real courage. We see your efforts.
