📢New paper out today. We collected continuous passive smartphone and wrist-worn actigraphy data for 1-year in individuals w/ serious mental illness to try to predict their negative emotional states w/ Justin Baker, Boyu Ren and team 1/n nature.com/articles/s4139…

✅ Both LLM-derived activation and passive sensing features (places visited ↑, time at home ↓) correlated significantly with self-reported activation—supporting their convergent validity.

·       ⏰ While LLM ratings predicted immediate daily emotional changes (more positive, less negative affect), passive sensors (places visited (↑), time at home(↓))predicted weekly improvements in depression and anhedonia.

This means we can use digital tools to provide therapists with objective, real-time measures of therapeutic progress, potentially personalizing treatments and improving outcome.
