Is this correct?

The queue and the pool bar is the main time Britons come across Europeans. So will falling behind shift the dial?

That said @youbrokeitmate has been damaged by Brexit. I am sure he would see the problem as at the border for traders and those selling services?

When inside Europe, Brexiters were calling for an end FOM but to keep the the other freedoms.

Now, regretful, they're asking for a restoration of FOM without the other freedoms.

I spent a chunk of my Civil Service career working in the EU. I saw real sadness that the UK did not want to be part of Europe. I remember so many conversations with people who wanted to welcome what the UK could bring - if only our politicians let us.

I do find this displacement worrying.

The UK electorate knew when it made Theresa May and then Boris Johnson PM that is was ending FOM.

I just don't see what the value is in blaming others when only the electoate can fix their mistake?

The endpoint is obvious, once unionists are allowed their performative tantrums- there will eventually be checks on people GB to NI, and probably the other direction

Starmer is probably sincere at the moment in ruling out membership of the Customs Union or the Single Market. But his acceptance of Elphickeโ€™s defection shows he is an opportunist. Opportunism may well point him back towards the EU in two or three years time.

Yes, applying for Europe and the A49 process is hard. Just as it was for Coratia, Bulgaria, Czechia, Latvia, Spain and Greece.

Why would there be an exception for the UK?

If people don't like it, don't apply.

Whether it will be by a referendum or whether by backing a party with a manifesto pledge is yet to be seen. I would say, a vote for Lab or Con at the next election is a vote to stay out of EU orbit for forseeable future!

The starting point in that is to change behaviour by saying, 'We, the electorate, made a mistake in electing Europhobes. Let's not do that again'.

As bleak as things look, this is fixable.

Niall ร“ Conghaile ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Jaqui The public has to fix it.

It's not helped by a load of political tribalism and lying politicians but ultimately it is the public that has to fix their own mess.

Really interesting discussion over the weekend about the UK electorate's responsibility for the loss of European citizenship rights via Brexit.

If we accept that the electorate is not responsible for Brexit* then can from who do you expect restoration of your citizenship?

Niall ร“ Conghaile ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Wasnยดt that at the core of Brexit ideology? The idea that all things going wrong in the country were responsability of others/the foreigners? Insnยดt is always 'someone elsesยดs' fault?
