Day 2 Toronto- we got a wonderful clinic from the Univ of Toronto orchestra professor And we heard the Toronto Symphony!!

Our Newark HS Quartet got an incredible opportunity in Toronto: a masterclass with a professional quartet from The Netherlands!! They played for a packed house and got some wonderful feedback!! Newark City Schools

We spent the morning at Unionville High School north of Toronto. We met other high school orchestra students and made music together- it was so exciting! We got to talk to each other about how our lives and similar and different, and we made new friends!

Bravo to these NHS students on one last beautiful performance to wrap up our time in Toronto!! 🎻🇨🇦

East Central Region Honors Orchestra weekend!! Congrats to our Newark musicians accepted into this awesome orchestra!! After a long 8 hour rehearsal day, they’re ready for a great concert tomorrow! (And probably a nap!)

One of our favorite things about joint concerts is ensembles collaborating! Student-led Symphony is back this winter, conducted by senior Sarah Warner, and they’re ready to rock the high school concert this Thursday! Have you bought your tickets for the concert yet??

Solo&Ensemble Day was a HUGE success!! Bravo to the 6th-12th grade Newark Orchestra students who performed nearly 180 various performances today!! You rock!! 🎻🎶

Today NHS Sinfonia worked with Kent State Univ Orchestra professor, Dr. Isaac Terceros. He gave us lots of wonderful new ideas and helped us think differently about our music so we could play it with more authenticity- how the composer intended.

Calling all 5th graders!! 🗣️ Play a string instrmnt in 6th grade!!🎻 We’ll be seeing you in your music class soon, but we hope everyone will spread the news to the 5th grade families they know. Come try the instruments, get your questions answered, and sign up for orchestra!

These soon-to-be 9th graders from across all NCS middle schools came together for a “Welcome to high school orchestra” event tonight. We were thrilled by the music of the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra!!

Today more than 80 band and orchestra students from Newark High School got to attend a Columbus Symphony dress rehearsal! We heard some amazing music, got to see the beautiful Ohio Theater, and had lunch at North Market!

What a great week of middle school camp!! We had SO much fun together and the musicians ROCKED their final concert at Canal Market District this afternoon! 🎻😃🎶
