Rolling blackouts are taking place as energy suppliers work to keep the midwest power grid stable as the demand for power soars. These outages will last about 30 minutes and are happening all over the central part of the nation. NTV News KRVN Radio @KNOPTV

1/3: ROLLING BLACKOUTS... Yes, they have happened in Dawson PPD territory. The blackouts last about 30 minutes. The purpose is to keep the power grid serving an area from Oklahoma to the Dakotas up and running.

2/3: This is not a normal procedure - this is an effort to keep power flowing throughout the center part of the nation. The cause is the extreme cold which is driving demand for electricity. Dawson PPD does not have forewarning and cannot tell you before it happens.

3/3: You may want turn off your sensitive electronics. The rolling blackout situation may continue over the next few days.
