From shining seas to picturesque mountains, North Carolina is blessed with beautiful natural resources. On this Earth Day, let’s recommit to protecting them and leaving our state better than we found it for generations to come 🌎

Restoring NC’s peatland soils improves water quality, wildlife habitat, wildfire and flood risk reduction, and carbon sequestration! We appreciate Congresswoman Deborah Ross’s leadership in supporting our recent EPA grant application to fund restoration of 1000’s of acres of peatlands!

Happy World Environment Day! We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than sharing this article by StarNews. Learn more about how the Green Swamp is doing after one year of the Pulp Road Fire, which burned most of the 16,000-acre preserve. starnewsonline.com/story/news/loc…

This burn was done at our Black River Preserve, and it was our first night burn! By burning at night, we can take advantage of higher humidities and lower temperatures, resulting in lower fire activity and minimizing tree damage.

71% of Americans agree — public lands must stay in public hands. But a new Senate proposal would require selling off over 2 million acres of public conservation lands! Take action NOW to urge Congress to oppose this large-scale sell off of public land preserve.nature.org/page/1710
