Excited about the opportunity to discuss why strong, unified leadership is the first step to improving state #ECE systems with @JBaghian Allie Kimmel Governor Jared Polis Lisa Roy at #SXSWEDU. Vote for our session now through Aug 21: panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/128274

SO grateful for partnerships like this that elevate key insights - including that 20% of LA centers didn't experience turnover. More info needed on what kind of teacher experience those centers provide - compensation super important here, and I would guess also not sole factor.

#ECE systems often fail to achieve their full potential b/c they lack coherence, coordination across all the fragmented funding sources that serve children B-5. Watershed released a framework that outlines how–and why it’s critical now more than ever: watershed-advisors.com/resources/

This is what systemic change looks like. State leaders can put policies and processes in place to make tangible differences in the lives of children served by the system now - but it takes focus, cross-coordination, and a whole lot of stakeholder engagement.

The #COVID19 relief packages were a lifeline for U.S. #childcare programs. Nearly all child care providers in a Bipartisan Policy Center survey said the funding was essential for keeping their doors open. bipartisanpolicy.org/explainer/chil…

The US actually built a robust safety net in the pandemic, and now we've basically dismantled it. Fantastic graphic from Claire Cain Miller and Alicia Parlapiano nytimes.com/interactive/20…

We must understand the problem before we can fix it, illuminating the need for 1) unified ece systems that lead to 2) coordinated data systems. States need empowered ece leads who know what problems they are solving, and what the trade offs for each solution are for their system

OPINION: School district leaders must make early education a priority, so children enter school prepared, writes Nasha Patel in The Hechinger Report. hechingerreport.org/opinion-school…

The looming fiscal cliff in Ed is scary, esp so for the littlest learners. Local level efforts are critical: School system leaders must sustain and grow ECE, not cut. Thankful for the efforts of so many on this piece, and this work.
