I was inspired by a blog post a while back from BobW K0NR and setup an account on HamAlert last night. App is all setup with about 15 callsigns I want to try to work, and of course, not a single spot yet. 🤓

I can’t be the only one that would like to see a more streamlined view of the data on pota.app — or am I just missing something?

No CQWW contest for me this weekend. Was in a car accident last night (tractor trailer didn’t stop for stopped traffic). I’m still too sore to sit and try operating. Will be ready for CW in a few weeks.

Pro tip: you don’t need an external USB connected WiFi adapter if your desktop has one built in. While diagnosing a network reset issue, I found there was an M.2 adapter already in this machine.

Spent a couple hours on 12m this morning filling much needed band slots (DX and US). I don’t get to operate much during the daytime lately, so this was fun.

Turned on the rig, was still setup for 12m. Got on, made a couple FT8 contacts, then saw the band drop out. Kept listening, doing other stuff, and saw Hawaii pop up. Worked him on the second call, weak signals for sure!

Rebuilt the DC Bias converter to use SO-239’s (kit included F connectors) and put my active antenna up in the back yard. So far, so good!
