It is interesting that students can reel off various performance stats about their favourite team or player but precious few about themselves. Students need academic PBs. For no one other than themselves.

When students say 'I'm no good at' or 'I'm rubbish at' something, ask: 1. What's your evidence for that? 2. What strategies are you using to help with that? Focus them on facts, not feelings. Then show them how to move forward.
