If you guessed that the species yesterday was an Eastern Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum) you would be right! They can sometimes be mistaken for Spotted or Marbled salamanders. 📸: John D. Willson

Seeing spots? Two fun facts about the Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma maculatum): 1. They can live up to 20 years old, although some specimens are thought to reach 30 years old! 2. Their eggs can contain algae, which consumes the CO2 and creates oxygen for the eggs. 📸: Jen Lamb
