We lost #PhilandoCastile 4 years ago. He was 32 when ofc. Jeronimo Yanez of St. Anthony PD fatally shot him in front of his 4yo daughter during a traffic stop. He was acquitted of all charges. We must never forget his life, his name, or his story. Rest in peace 🙏🏾 #SayHisName

It’s not selfish for educators to bring up concerns about exposure to COVID-19. It’s not even self-care. It’s basic self-preservation. And that’s often motivated by the human desire to be alive for our loved ones. Saying, “I want to live” shouldn’t be a controversial stance.

After hearing from families across our district, I’m asking @TEA Comm. Morath to waive STAAR testing for 2020/21. If we must resume testing, I’m requesting that scores not be punitive to students. COVID is hard enough on students without the added pressure of STAAR test scores.

Four years of Betsy DeVos is more than enough. We need a Secretary of Education who is actually a public school educator.
