P1 have been getting inspired and challenging themselves in the blocks this week!🤩 lovely lighthouses linked to our story of the week, The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. It’s been a wonderful spark for further learning! 💡 🥪 🧱 New Machar School

We extended our learning with lighthouses this week. After a short teacher led input in circuits then children designed and built their lighthouses with ledges for the lights they created! 💡🧱 New Machar School

Yesterday was world smile day! P1 made a special video for their families. Who makes you smile? Why don’t you let them know! It might make them smile too😊 😃

P1 have been inspired by our context the amazing arts & have been finding out about some famous artists & their style of art. Here is one of responses so far - 2 art lessons, story of the week, fine motor skills and experimenting with paint in different ways! ✨ 🎨 New Machar School

P1 were learning about remembrance. We found out about poppies and how they can be made. We used cutting skills to create different size circles. The children inspired to explore making poppies did so in the blocks, loose parts & mark making areas in their play. New Machar School

We had a lovely session outside just before lunch this morning. Fresh air, lots of excitement & team work to build snowmen, create angels and even some letter & number making! ❄️ ⛄️

#ScottishBookWeek was so much fun! P1 enjoyed the three stories, and responding to them across the curriculum this week. We even made our own story inspired by one of the books this year! We shared our learning with families at our shared reading afternoon! New Machar School
