Over the past few years, we have taken pride in creating safe spaces where children can freely express themselves. These spaces allow them to share their thoughts and emotions, especially difficult ones, without hesitation.

During a training with Ekjut , we went on a transect walk and saw how bad roads force pregnant women to walk 1+ km to reach an ambulance. Officials blame forest land, yet people pay taxes for water & power. We later did a roleplay to raise awareness in the community.

All girls, across religion & caste, face this in India. Alisha Ansari , a President-awarded NSS volunteer, spoke to our girls about good touch & bad touch, sharing stories she witnessed. Her courage opened space for others to share too. We have a long way to go. 🧡

One essential skill often ignored in schools: expressing emotions. As kids, we mostly spoke in class only to repeat memorized answers. In our post-game learning circles, children share when they felt angry, happy, or sad. Isn’t this just as important to learn?

Nathan Monis, a second-year Psychology student at St. Xavier's, Mumbai, has joined us for three weeks. He is helping our team learn how to take good pictures. Nathan is living in the village itself, learning about life in a village in Chhattisgarh and our work with children.

Living in the community means you often learn more than you give. One of our community coaches taught us the Oraon tribal dance — a beautiful reminder of how much wisdom lives here. #communityledwork

At Monkey Sports, we use Kho-Kho to teach kids how to resolve conflicts peacefully. It’s not just about play; it’s about building emotional strength, empathy, and cooperation. By creating these spaces early, we shape kinder, more resilient individuals.

Stay tuned as our team and the children prepare for a Nukkad Natak (street play) on Gender-Based Violence in the community. The goal is to spark meaningful conversations and share how we’re using sports as a powerful tool to challenge gender norms. 💛

Like many other girls at her age, Hema has stopped playing sports because of teasing from boys, changes in her body and pressure at home to focus only on household work. By removing these barriers, we were able to regularly engage Hema and improve her confidence to play.

Many parents got emotional, sharing how gender-based violence affects the whole community. Our Nukkad Natak struck a chord — showing how children who witness violence may face emotional, financial struggles & repeat the cycle. We're breaking it with mixed-gender sports.

Through our new and long partnership with grassroots NGOs in the West Champaran district of Bihar, we are reaching 750 children in 25 villages. The program began with a five-day training that focused on making community spaces safer for girls to participate in sports.

Neetu says, "Didi and Sir explain everything very kindly, which has taken away my fear." Please take a look at how the sports sessions helped Neetu. She says she used to feel scared earlier, but can now express her emotions more confidently. CoachesAcrossContinents

Highlight of our work from the last three months. Few sessions were disrupted or cancelled because of rain and unsafe playgrounds. We focused more on engaging children in Nukkad Natak, participating in events, and building team capacity.

We are talking to parents in the communities, trying to understand their views on sports and the participation of girls. Along with that, we are showing them our Annual report, telling them what children learned and also the challenges from last year.
