Lots of learning happened this week ⁦Smokey Drive School⁩ in 3/4. Most importantly we are learning about each other and how to work together as a team. It’s going to be a great year!

We welcomed some new friends into our classroom today! We read Our Class is a Family and created a friendship chain describing how we can treat each other as a family in 3 Walker. #buildingrelationships

We practiced our addition math facts today and then organized our classroom library! Students loved taking ownership and responsibility of our classroom books!

Thanks Mr. Welcher for introducing yourself and speaking to our class about how you help us Smokey Drive School! We also made math monsters today! Can you describe these monsters in numbers?

Remembering why we wear orange shirts today in 3 Walker. Students also created talking pieces inspired by Mi’kmaq artist Alan Syliboy. We will use these talking pieces during our circles throughout the month of October.

Counting up all our coins in 3 Walker this morning! Students love working with money!

These kiddos Smokey Drive School loved watching High School Musical at Woodlawn High this morning. One student even said, « I hope I can do this when I get to high school! » Great job cast and crew! #inspiringlittles

We started procedural writing this week in 3 Walker! Today we read a book on how to make ice cream, followed the instructions and made homemade ice cream with salt, ice, cream and milk. Next week we will write the recipe and bring it home to try with our families!

We had a great week of learning in 3 Walker Smokey Drive School. We tuned in to Ellie Black’s Q&A chat on zoom, and celebrated literacy day by stop,drop and read and flashlight reading with our buddies!

Thanks Green Schools NS for teaching us to how to bundle up and save energy! We enjoyed an outdoor scavenger hunt today and then had various opportunities to play both outdoors and in for Global Play Day!

The sheer excitement and joy on these students faces when they received their glass work from the pottery lab was so amazing yesterday! Thanks Ms. V for the wonderful workshop. #ThanksToYouHalifax

Another great week Smokey Drive School. Students had the opportunity to participate in an African drumming workshop yesterday. Lots of learning and fun to be had!

We’ve had an exciting few weeks in 3W. We finished our structures unit with an egg drop challenge with our buddies. We started investigating plants and soils and had a visit from our art teacher Mr. West, who taught us how to paint Mi’kmaq art with clay like Barbara Reid.
