The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. Pharma buys off Congress. No action on drug prices. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

I'll say again what I will doubtless be saying a million times in the coming years: Algorithmic feeds have pushed content creators to conform to the acceptable aesthetic and cultural average; A.I. generation will just automatically produce that average from the start

Op-Ed: Kentucky lawmakers want to replace the income tax with the sales tax for one reason - it will benefit them personally at the expense of others. bit.ly/3xXufhC ^JC

While I have your attention, check out my latest article about anti-CRT laws and the anti-CRT moral panic for The Forum: forummag.com/2023/03/06/fea… One thing I want to highlight: how important it is that we NOT respond to the moral panic by saying “CRT isn’t even being taught.”

It's often said: White kids, upon being taught the history of racism, will feel guilty or bad about being White. In fact, White kids who receive antiracist history lessons exhibit fewer racist ideas about Black people while their attitudes about White people are unaffected.

funny how in retrospect trump was pretty much almost exactly as bad as people thought he would be. like the more upset someone was on election night in 2016 the better their predictions have likely aged. the few things where he wasn't that bad were mainly due to incompetence.

The great thing about having teachers with different talents, passions, and even personalities is that they all reach students that someone may not be able to reach. Celebrate the greatness every educator brings!

Schools like Ignite Institute are proof of what we already know: When we invest in our public education, incredible things can happen. That's why my budget plan isn't focused on moving the state to the left or right – just forward, together.

1/7 Time for my periodic reminder about one of the most important educational research findings of the 20th century: the Eight-Year Study. Back in the 1930s, 30 high schools around the U.S. turned traditional practice on its head, especially for college-bound students...
