Putting our math skills to the test with this problem. We used counters and organized our thinking in a T-chart to figure out all the different ways to make 24.

We used tangrams to recreate the following images. They had fun manipulating the shapes to accurately solve the puzzle. Spatial reasoning ✅

The 100th day of school was on Friday and we had such a lovely day celebrating. Students brought in 100 items, finished a 100 piece puzzle, made 100 day crowns, wrote 100 words and participated in many 100 second challenges. 💯

We had a speaker from the region of Waterloo come to talk to us about all things water! 💦 she answered many of our wonderings like, how does water get to our taps for us to drink?

We created family portraits to give to our families on Family Day. We used water colour paint to create a background for our portraits 🥰✨

Students have been having so much fun hanging out with our Grade 8 learning buddies. We’ve been taking the time to get to know them, read with them and play with them.

We are exploring when and how to multiply. We are starting to show our thinking using arrays (straight line of cubes) and repeated addition.

We are also exploring when and how to divide. We are focusing on sharing small amounts into equal groupings. Today we were given this “does it work?” problem. We continued to practise dividing with an online game.

We have been working on writing personal narratives. After modelling my own personal narrative, we came up with some success criteria to write our own. ✍🏼

Using #UFLI decodable texts, we highlighted all the ‘magic e’ words as a class, choral read the text, then went off to partner read and draw our illustrations of the story.

Our spring animal art turned out so well. We are learning about the element of line to create a fur-like texture on our animals. Inspiration is from Art with Mrs. Filmore.

We used Kandinsky inspired concentric circles to create beautiful spring flower art ⭕️🎨🖌️
