There's comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)! It's rather bright, as comets go, and you can see it with your eyes (dimly). If there was no moon up and you were in a dark sky region, it would be quite spectacular. Pretty cool! #comet #comet_tsuchinshan_atlas #TsuchinshanATLAS

Tsuchinshan-Atlas Brightness Update: As forward scattering diminishes, Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas is gradually losing its brightness. Although it remains relatively visible to the naked eye, it will become increasingly difficult to observe over the next few days. If weather

I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians. I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor. My time as Governor taught me to

Darwinian Evolution as a Product of the Second Law: Biotic Entropy Production in the Universe "(i) Darwinian evolution is a product of the second law...(ii) life enhances the 2nd law by increasing entropy production" well said Charlie :) preprints.org/manuscript/202…

New paper: The Second Law of #Thermodynamics, #Life and #Earth‘s Planetary Machinery Revisited. #Entropy and the second law of thermodynamics must apply to life and the Earth system as well, but how, and what can we learn from it? Check out our blog earthsystem.org/2024/11/09/lif…

Nice day for a short field trip to sample Siders Pond in Falmouth, MA. MBL Undergrads Hoang Luu measuring bacterial productivity using radioisotopes under anaerobic conditions with help from SES TA Mary Ossar. It's in the bag! Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL)

You've got to break a few ridiculously expensive and fragile potato chip filters to count viruses Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL)! MBL Undergrads Hoang Luu getting good at it (the counting, not the breaking). Thanks to the Huber Lab for showing the way! And ZEISS Microscopy for making it visible.
