Aer Lingus pilots begin work to rule from next Wednesday. Indefinitely. Pay claim is for 24%, which equates to inflation since last pay rise in 2019. While Aer Lingus increased profits by 400% to €255 million last year. IALPA

Aer Lingus @ialpa pilots begin their 8-hour strike today, alongside an indefinite work to rule. But there is a solution to this. It's to pay pilots in line with inflation - a reasonable pay claim especially from a company that has had a 400% increase in profit.

From 2019 to 2023 senior executive management in Aer Lingus saw their pay increase by 66%. The company is making record profits. But Pilots have seen none of this. Aer Lingus could end this strike right now if they paid workers what they've asked for.

With UNICEF Ireland's Peter Power, Fórsa trade union's Mehak Dugal and Treasurer Michael Smyth this afternoon to present a cheque from our members and branches in aid of the #Gaza appeal. This is in addition to the donation of €100k that the union made late last year.

Marking one year of genocide against a captive population. Marching in a huge trade union bloc for a Free Palestine and a #CeasefireNow. Proud that the trade union movement has stood for peace and justice from the very beginning. We will never stop.
