I just had the great pleasure of judging Spencer A Olesky defense of his amazing honors thesis on the potential of Monomethyl Fumarate to prevent brain aneurysms. He’s going to be the type of brilliant researcher/doctor we will need in this new era. Tulane University

a solid argument to be made that the NBA is the most important American cultural institution of 2020. they basically kicked off the U.S. shutdown, the players' George Floyd response define a lot of what came after, they bubbled and proved a bubble could work, now this

Small but mighty! This is a video of a killer T cell of the immune system destroying a monstrous ovarian cancer cell. I recently captured this data on a spinning disc confocal microscope.

Someday everyone will be sequenced for their whole genome. This will determine what we even pay for insurance. Those with low risk DNA would get lower rates. We will have health care plans that address our DNA and how it impacts out health from the day we are born.

Analysis indicates that drug R&D productivity is very sensitive to the predictive validity of decision tools such as disease models used to assess therapeutic candidates. Jack Scannell et al. discuss why this matters and how to improve the situation go.nature.com/3CkMgrJ

First I called out its hype, now I point out its potential in the 1st of a 3-part series on "Techbio." And as someone who's liked "biotech" more than "techbio," allow me to annoy all sides with the technically correct term "technobiology."link.medium.com/1ia7P0xfUub

#FDA clearance for lab-grown meat UPSIDE Foods is an big step for the future of cultivated meats. Interested to see how scaling (if biologicaly possible- see article below) and economics play out, product-market fit for lab-grown meat may be non-existent thecounter.org/lab-grown-cult…

Prices are high, but not exorbitant, in line with value. Combination of annuity/pay for performance pricing seems to be a compromised payment path. Hard part is follow up over the patients lifetime, US systems aren't great at long term follow ups

Super excited our publication is now live. Incredible effort by all involved for what is surely a seminal piece in the organ chip field, particularly towards upwards adoption
