Having worked with people in various roles who were excluded from becoming doctors by their life situations, I am intrigued by the opportunities presented by the apprenticeship route. My team has only been enhanced by diversity in background… looking to the future!

This article resonates… Shoukd we strive to diagnose ARDS or should we treat the patient clinically? atsjournals.org/doi/10.1164/rc…

pet peeve: ARDS is a syndrome, not a disease. *everything* on this list can *cause* ARDS! listing ARDS here is an exercise in circular logic. misunderstanding of what "ARDS" means is deeply baked into the medical literature. once you understand this, you'll see it everywhere.

Improving quality of later life sometimes means less medical intervention not more. This should be the patient's informed decision. Older people and their families need to have realistic conversations with their doctors including about levels of intervention they want. (5/5)

Too often children's needs are forgotten in policy making, or they fall through the gaps of departmental priorities. That's why we want to see a Cabinet Level Minister for Children. Thanks to Baroness D'Souza for raising this important issue in Parliament this week.

Well, nearly 30 years after last playing a service and very nearly 40 years after singing as a boy, I have been persuaded to playing for my village church in the new year. Wish me luck!

So 28.5 years after playing for my last service, I made my debut on the organ bench at Evensong. 2 voluntaries, Anglican chant (new to me as the accompanist) and 3 hymns later, I made it through with only a few moments of terror!

A great review by Ashley Miller, Jonny Wilkinson and Dr Kasal discussing the use of #POCUS in the four phases of shock BTW, nice blend of (patho-)physiology references & bedside applications!
