Based on some recent Desmos Live (s/o Dan Meyer) and asks from some teachers, I made this infinite practice for graphing lines (y=mx+b). Thinking a lot about when this would be good for Ss. Here for your thoughts! #improvemyAB teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…

Inspired by the Math Teacher Lounge and Jenna Laib to do slow-reveal boxplots in Algebra. It was a great way to access prior knowledge and I enjoyed seeing/hearing student thoughts on what data the plot might represent.

-I watched Desmos live from 1/28 -My daughter came home from KG with the "mystery box" Put them together: teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde… My mind is spinning about adding animation (opening the box)/feedback. A definite work in progress! @AlgebraDesmos

I can not express enough how much I love this slide by Kurt Salisbury, Ph.D.. I revamped the activity to fit our lesson on quadratics and projectiles and am SO excited to use it with students next week. teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…

In an unexpected turn of events, Desmos Penny Circle turned into a debate over whether the floor in the video was carpeting or tile. If you want to get kids talking and debating this will do it😂- they were very split- lots of good reasoning for both!

Played with Desmos Balance the Scale and my 9yo joined in. Days later she asks "can we do another one?". She has me change the exponent (typically starting with 100😀) and then adjusts. Awesome way to look at big/small numbers!

Trying to shift student mindsets from "when I see this I DO this" (memorizing) to "when I see this I KNOW this" (understanding) can be tough when some have survived by memorizing for so long.
