"To say that this book is my bible is an understatement: I consult it every time I am going to research an old Latin-American recipe." Multiple #jbfa winner Maricel Presilla on the cookbook that most informs her work, a 14th-century Catalan text bit.ly/2NNsb5q

Today the UK government announced that pubs should close "as soon as they reasonably can" tonight. Meanwhile, our local @princeofwaleshg is still busy, more people are going in and no sign of closing, several London hospitals ICUs are already overcapacity. Hugely irresponsible!

Finally emptied after a steamy night at 12.30am. Might funny & British to go to the pub, but some health experts are saying we will be like Italy in 2 weeks, with doctors deciding who will live and die. This is urgent, take it seriously. Other people are affected by your choices.

People are letting off fireworks in East London (I can see and hear from my window on the hill). Stop fooling about, stop everything now. Social mixing risks you or people you know dying. Save the partying for when it's over.

The air quality in London is now something else, pure and refreshing, especially on top of the hill in the breeze. When we are past our current situation, maybe we can take our quality of life more seriously, and the damage urban air does to our respiratory health?

This is the lack of awareness that's going to cause us serious problems. People are leaving donations outside Oxfam shops, even though Oxfam announced that all their stores are closed until further notice and there's a sign on the door saying no donations!

On hold 3 hrs with Barclays UK to talk to my relationship manager. I get why there's a long queue, but first 1.50mins were waiting for someone to put me through to the right person in '2-3 mins', over 1 hour ago! Surely better to give the right number out in the first place?

Social 'distancing' on #hampsteadheath. Kissing, hugging long missed friends, play fighting, running around. I am usually a live and let live kind of person, but this is going to prolong the agony of dealing with COVID - affecting all our lives, businesses, travel and health.

Arrived back in the UK yesterday through Luton Airport from a country not on the UK's exempt list, with nothing more than a few posters to tell you about the 14-day quarantine and a couple of border staff stopping a few people. No forms, no addresses, no testing. Not reassuring.

So it's done, a hard Brexit, a deal but the worst kind of deal, far from the promises of staying in the single market made by Johnson after the referendum. Is this what the 52% wanted when they voted 'Yes'? Did you understand you were voting to take away our rights in Europe?

Starting to see the results of the irresponsible, down to the wire, hard Brexit deal - online cheese sales to retail consumers in the EU from UK now require £180 health certificates. theguardian.com/politics/2021/…

Check out the 7 tips at the end of this article on eating for your microbiome: "Eat foods rich in polyphenols. These include dark chocolate and red wine." I'm certainly following that guidance! theguardian.com/society/2021/j…

Snap - is it an important in chocolate? Really, no, it's a hangover from the old way of thinking about chocolate before craft chocolate: a property of commercial chocolate/couverture where flavour is not the main concern. It's like saying a beer is good or not because it's fizzy.

Due to website errors + card payments not going through despite being completely cleared by our bank, I made the mistake of sending a BACS payment to Currys Business - not a smooth service, rather a black hole manual process waiting on someone in finance to work on their in-tray!
