It's fairly smokey over the lake today from the forest fires up north & out west. Hopefully, they get some much needed moisture on those areas to help the fire crews out in the battle.

Let's get this built & get oil flowing to east coast to get more markets for CDN oil. That way, we have options other than the USA, which will force them to pay world pricing instead of bending us over the barrel on price as we had nowhere else to go with it in the past.

I think i am going to skip spraying fungicide on this corn, it's really hurting for moisture. It's hard to make grain with no rain, nothing in the 2 week forecast, may consider letting the cattle into it to at least get some type of ROI out of it.

Started some corn yield estimates using the PFT formula that Canada's Grain posted. We have been in an extreme drought combined with high temperatures most of the summer. Looks like we will have lots of free bin space if anyone local needs some storage. Estimates = 1/3 of normal

Drought continues, corn going backwards, sitting at 1/2 milk line for 2 weeks now & not progressing. Seems like there isn't enough energy left in it to keep it's stature. Stalks are real rubbery now, extreme droughted pockets have basically given up and dropped ears. Peter Johnson

Stopped by & took a 93 yr old neighbour & his wife for our bi weekly visit/crop tour this afternoon. These older couples have a lot of inbedded knowledge us younger clan can learn from. When we crossed this creek between his farm & ours, he said he has never seen it dry before.
