This week, all 🇩🇰 ambassadors are gathered in Copenhagen to meet Government ministers & discuss major foreign policy challenges. One focus area was Denmark’s upcoming UNSC membership. We got excellent advise from Malta’s stellar PR Vanessa Frazier 🧡 #DK4UNSC 🇩🇰 🇺🇳

At the #UNSC Briefing on Ukraine #Malta underscored the deteriorating security situation in the Donetsk and Sumy Region due to intense shelling. The increased toll of civilian casualties, including children, is of great concern. We called on all parties to respect #IHL & #IHRL.

This morning, the #UNSC convened for closed consultations on the 1718 Committee. Council members were briefed by the Chair, Ambassador Baeriswyl of Switzerland, on her 90-day report. Government of Malta 🇲🇹 🇲🇹 United Nations 🇺🇳

During today's #UNSC briefing on #Ukraine, #Malta underlined the dire humanitarian situation in UA & the need to uphold IHL & IHRL. At the #UNSC Briefing on Syria (CW), #Malta regretted the lack of progress on the file & urged Syria to fully comply w/ the OPCW & to completely abandon its chemical weapons program. The use of chemical weapons is against international norms & can never be justified.

#Malta joined 11 #UNSC members (🇫🇷🇪🇨🇬🇾🇯🇵🇲🇿🇰🇷🇸🇱🇸🇮🇨🇭🇬🇧🇺🇸) to condemn the Taliban’s systematic gender discrimination and oppression of women and girls in #Afghanistan. We urge the Taliban to immediately reverse its far reaching restrictions on freedom of expression and movement.
