D’Arcy Hall, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, was built early in the C16 by Anthony Darcy (Sheriff of Essex & Herts in 1511, died 1540). His initials feature on panelling. The house had a U-shaped plan, & occupies a moated site with bridge and dovecote. Nicholas Kingsley RomanCircus
