#Avohakkuut ovat keskusteluttaneet Suomen Kuvalehti jutun jälkeen. Tutkin väitöskirjassani (2014) kansalaisten näkemyksiä metsiä koskeviin kysymyksiin. Tulokset hyvin samansuuntaisia. Tunnetuin tulos oli, että 70 % suomalaisista ei hyväksy avohakkuita. 1/8

Kysymys ei ole siitä voiko metsiä käyttää vai ei. Metsien käsittelytavoissa on vaihtoehtoja. Jatkuvapeitteinen metsänkasvatus tukee paremmin metsille asetettuja monia tavoitteita – ja on usein metsänomistajalle taloudellisesti kannattava vaihtoehto. 8/8
