We're a little over two months in - how has "full-time" daycare been? It's been... okay. Last week was our very first full week of care!

Our little guy brought home Omicron in his very first week at daycare! So efficient! He generously shared it with me, of course. We've had two additional colds since then, and several doctor's visits. All while my husband and I try to teach and do research.

And btw, parents still have to pay the full monthly rate even if their kid is out for half the month. We're lucky that it's *only* about $1900 a month for UCSB employees here - I've heard far worse numbers from friends in big cities.

So anyway - try to be patient with your colleagues and instructors with little ones. We're doing our best!

Incredibly grateful that we’re finally finding our rhythm. Last quarter also involved multiple rapid shifts in mode of instruction (& teaching a new class), so I never quite felt like I was on my feet. Excited for this quarter - first in-person undergrad teaching since fall 2019!

Yes, please, any patience or understanding goes a really long way. It’s taking much longer than I expected to find my rhythm again after going so long with no childcare support. Things are feeling more natural finally, but there are still frequent hiccups

I have mixed feelings about this editorial.I appreciate that brain-wide association studies may be underpowered & that some groups defy averaging. But by generalizing the consequences to all of cog neuro I think it’s doing more harm than good to the field. nature.com/articles/d4158…
