When you see other people’s research, you mostly see successful projects. To reduce survivorship bias, here are some projects I’ve dropped after more than two weeks working on them:

Can't make it to the gallery to see James Epps' 'A twist of the hand'? Want to delve deeper into the exhibition? You're in for a treat - explore the works & process behind them in James' own words in our NEW online exhibition👇 museums.cam.ac.uk/story/a-twist-… #acefunded Arts Council England

This year showed publishing was an overarching theme, so we held separate publishing webinars, through Dr Manu Dal Borgo. But each triad will have its own concerns, patterns and agendas. Manu is also coordinating the short-term mentoring: wcc-uk.blogs.sas.ac.uk/about-us/wcc-u…

Play the numbers game with @roelkonijn and find out why ancient Athens had more ships then sailors, and why they couldn’t just arm them all as light infantry to overwhelm their enemy in massive land battles. #Twitterstorians #AncientGreece reddit.com/r/AskHistorian…

I was literally telling my students this today in class. We sanitize ancient Greek warfare and forget the brutality and horrifc violence involved.

GDO kicks off 2022 with a blend of old and new as Dr Maria Dal Borgo (Dr Manu Dal Borgo) explores parallels in Athenian reactions to major events in the 5th century BCE and in the 21st century CE. See ccgs.csah.cam.ac.uk/events/greek-d… for more information and access details.

One of the biggest names in ancient history sent me an email saying "l loved your paper!" 🥰 let that sink in...My work is original and extremely controversial - therefore often copied and/or hated - it is always a relief to receive such feedback. Phew - no riots this time 😅

Sad to hear that a great source of knowledge is ending. It is a truth universally acknowledged that work that is good does not necessarily survive. Patrons/sponsors/private wealth are necessary to survive in academia. Heart hurting for you, @JoshoBrouwers

New book! With a speed that to be honest I find rather disconcerting, 'Capital in Classical Antiquity', ed. Max Koedijk and Neville Morley, has just been published. link.springer.com/book/10.1007/9…
