New preprint's out! This one is absolute mathemagics by Shivang Rawat on āeverything you always wanted (and perhaps you'll ever need) to know about noise power spectra but were afraid to askā š§µ1/4 arxiv.org/abs/2305.19890
Big news, we have been awarded our first R01! It's a 4-year multi-PI NEI R01 with David Heeger on the development of a comprehensive theory of V1 neurophysiology! Couldn't have done it without the exciting preliminary work by Shivang Shivang Rawat and Lyndon Lyndon Duong !
A biologically plausible neural network for online whitening with slow (synaptic plasticity) and fast (gain control) learning accepted as a spotlight at #NeurIPS2023! A collaboration with the Simoncelli group led by the brilliant Lyndon Duong, David Lipshutz arxiv.org/abs/2308.13633
Society for Neuroscience (SfN) how do circuits adaptively & efficiently encode info in dynamic environments? In a collab w Lyndon Duong David Heeger Dmitri "Mitya" Eero Simoncelli we propose circuit models that achieve this by modulating the gains of local interneurons. Poster: today (Tues) at 1pm, XX32
š¢Flatiron CCN is hiring a Research Scientist to support open-source software for neural data analysis in collaboration with my group Great option for PhDs or postdocs who want to focus full attention on developing useful tools for the community Details: apply.interfolio.com/136320
Congratulations to our Flatiron CCN members who will be presenting work at @NeurIPSconf next week - Looking forward to {sharing, discussing, learning} in New Orleans!
How can neural networks continuously adapt to new contexts & maintain a stable representation across all contexts? We derive a novel network with synaptic plasticity and gain control Spotlight poster at #NeurIPS23 Thursday 6-8pm EST with Lyndon Duong, David Lipshutz, Eero Simoncelli
New article on unifying perceived magnitude and discriminability is out: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnā¦ Eero Simoncelli Lyndon Duong
Just out, from Jingyang Zhou and Lyndon Duong at Flatiron CCN and NYU Center for Neural Science Co-existence of Weberās Law, Stevenās Law, Fechnerās Law (and their generalizations). DOI: 10.1073/pnas.2312293121
Interested in the impact of noise on neural computations? Here is a talk I gave on the topic earlier this month. youtube.com/live/tcY0MZQGqā¦ Two relevant papers linked below š. Thanks to Shiry Ginosar and Phillip Isola for the invitation!
