A few passages from my cloud-rock assessment. This sound is everywhere in contemporary "indie." Many of the most creative "guitar" musicians currently working fall under this overcast banner. Cloud-rock is really intriguing to me because it actually sounds like a new frontier.

i haven't really followed popular music discourse in well over a decade, but i feel like kids have to be ready to sweep away the artists who've lorded over the past 15 years, like the culture was ready for a drake implosion, a comically astroturfed bad taylor swift album, etc.

if anything it feels like some of these clowns have dominated the discourse for way longer than a musician would in any other era i can think of, extremely few people enjoyed an unbroken decade at the top prior to 2010
