Over the years, World Health Organization (WHO) has partnered with Ghana to strengthen health systems and improve service delivery. Today, Prof. Mohamed Janabi, WHO African Region Regional Director, met with Ghana’s Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh to discuss health sector priorities and deepen collaboration.

This week, we’re at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, the Rotavirus Regional Reference Lab, building capacity of lab & surveillance officers from across West Africa to better detect, monitor & respond to rotavirus.

Last year, Ghana carried out a polio vaccination campaign after detecting poliovirus in the Eastern Region. Building on that effort, together with Ghana Health Service and Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, we are strengthening surveillance to ensure early detection and protection against future outbreaks.
