This isn't to suggest that upzoning is a silver bullet for housing affordability or anything like that. But I would suggest large-scale upzoning desrves to be the first cab off the policy rank before we get on with other policy reforms, mainly because it's relatively effective.

Transport for NSW has released patronage data for FY24-25. Sydney Metro overtakes Sydney Light Rail as the third most used public transport mode. Patronage increased approximately 40 million or 173% to 63.2 million, giving Metro 10% public transport mode share. 1/3

Three of the main arterial road bus routes will be receiving more frequent evening buses. All 6 routes will run every 30 minutes between 7pm & 11:30pm which will provide a 15-minute frequency every day of the week. This will come into effect from Sunday, August 17th, 2025.
