You got to love JIRA sometimes.. When creating a new ticket and you want to submit it, hovering over the button and you see "Press undefined+s to submit" ๐Ÿ˜†

The difference between well-tested code and no unit tests: 6 hours of work vs 3 minutes. Tell me again how unit tests are slowing development down.

Had somebody asking for tips on how to run microservices easily, theyโ€™re a freelancer on a project by themselves. The answer there is OH BOY DO NOT DO THAT. Microservices are hard, and not a solo job. Monoliths are fine for that just try and plan them half decent.

You can make more money, and you can make more code, but you can never make more time. This is why a modern, well designed code base matters. You need it to help you to save time in maintenance and new features. Time is precious, too precious to waste in technical debt.

Getting people to talk about abstracts, interfaces and concrete implementations ๐“†ฉโœง๐“†ช and how they impact our thing and (daily) work. #levelUp

I see so many people complaining that unit tests don't work because they require a giant setup block for each test case. If I need to setup too much, then it's a sign that my code is poorly designed, that classes are not well isolated. The tests are not the problem, the code is.

You can't unit-test a piece of code that is not a unit. If class Xyz requires 50 other classes to be in the correct state, then your unit is not Xyz, it's the collection of those 50 classes. Isolation allows you to split to smaller units, allowing for smaller tests.
