Quick UPD for rescue: tough access, large machinery, tricky maneuvering, but we’re moving forward. In the photo: an unstoppable machinery duo working to create the right water-mud mix for the heavy dredger to pump out. The goal: turn the swamp into water so divers can jump in.

This morning, the cables are ready to be attached to the equipment, and the excavator is preparing the approach for the large dredger. Once it starts working, the goal will be to create suitable conditions for divers to dive and attach the cables to the equipment.

UPD: Divers and bulldozers with towing cables are on standby. Main effort - to enable divers to attach cables to the sunken equipment. The large dredger "Nemunaitis" and a pontoon excavator are clearing mud, while water cannons are ready to engage mud if needed.

UPD: Late in the evening, an attempt was made to dive toward the sunken vehicle, but reaching the M88 was unsuccessful due to a dense layer of mud. In the morning, the mud basins filled up, so new ones are being set up. Amount of equipment in use - to be expanded.

An important step forward has been made in the operation – the first cable has been attached to the sunken armored vehicle. One cable is not enough; two are needed, but the first one means we are no longer at a dead end. Managing expectations, but a step-forward is done.

Condolences to the families and comrades of the fallen allied troops. After a six-day large-scale search and rescue operation, the M88 armored vehicle was recovered from a swamp in the Pabradė training area. These soldiers took an oath and paid the ultimate price. 🇱🇹🇺🇸

Search operation for the last missing soldier continues. Poland engineers, Estonian police K9 as well as a third amphibious excavator equipped with rakes joined the search efforts.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces pay tribute to the relatives of the fourth fallen soldier and to everyone who contributed to rescuing our Allies.
