Glad to have confirmation today of a long awaited inquiry into the collusion-mired murder of Pat Finucane. So many families are having their quest for truth obstructed by state & non state actors who want the past covered up & I asked SOS to ensure barriers are removed for them

On the eve of my first class of the new semester tomorrow morning... 11 teachers gathered to discuss delivery of education amidst unimaginable carnage... They were slaughtered before they got the chance to teach... I really wonder how so many remain(ed) silent, for so long.

Interesting that an obscure Tory MP who is now Shadow SoS responded to the announcement of a Public Inquiry into Pat Finucane by asking why the case wasn't referred to the (not) independent ICRIR -a body that will not lead to reconciliation. Of course the ICRIR is a Tory creation

It’s actually really important to find out if the state you pay your taxes to, was colluding in murdering solicitors - a part of the justice system. It’s actually fundamental to find that out - it shakes the bedrock of the social contract if they did that and covered it up.

Mother and Baby Homes issue on Drivetime RTE again referencing Tuam as if it's the only institution involved. Literally thousands of children in other institutions. No one seems to discuss where they are or what will become of them.

Rachel Simpson. 43 years-old. The 23rd woman to be murdered in Northern Ireland since 2020. In 2022/23, of 17 murders in NI, eight resulted from domestic violence against women. Violence against women here is a problem of epidemic proportions. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Month ago, we had people rioting in Belfast, claiming they were trying to protect women & children from migrants. In Northern Ireland we’ve had 3 women murdered in the past 4wks related to domestic violence. Not Trans, not migrants. And not a word from the ‘protectors’.

Top five introductory, accessible, and informative reads on decoloniality/decolonisation🧵: There is more, of course, but I am often asked what would be a starting point for those who will then read more (Fanon is always the answer)

A warning the Guardian ‘Britishcore’ articles - very loosely defined - are even worse than you fear they’ll be. Not so bad they’re good, just BAD. Cultural cringe that could only get worse if some fawning Irish journalist attempts to create a version for us. Don’t do it.
