Primary school teacher Rob Randel is spot on. Too many children in Wales are functionally illiterate and cannot access the secondary school curriculum because of poor reading skills. In primary, you learn to read. In secondary, you read to learn. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Good to see the the teaching of reading is getting some attention by the media. Schools need better guidance on how to teach reading from Lynne & Vikki. If systematic synthetic phonics is good enough for England, Australia, USA, New Zealand & Singapore, why isn't it good
