April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. What's the Big TEAL? Over 450,000 US citizens each year are victims of rape or attempted rape. 2.5% of rapists go to jail. WE CAN DO BETTER!

Nominations are open! This year, NSVRC and ATSA will offer this award to two people, one who provides services to those who have been sexually harmed, and another to one who provides treatment or does research in the area of treatment or prevention of sexual harm.

Someone posted, “I don’t want to be the reason people are put in jail.” Survivors, YOU are not the reason anyone is put in jail, loses their job/family or any other thing. The perpetrator is the reason they are suffering the consequences of their crimes although most never do.

This journey continues. Tomorrow, May 1, at 12:30 pm I will speak to members of the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence. This task force is made up of about 50 members of the House of Reps in DC. PRAYING FOR MEANINGFUL ACTION!

I am so taken aback by these comments made publicly today: "she wouldn't have been the chosen one." What does this mean? To all victim/survivors: please do not internalize these words. You did nothing to "earn" the right to be assaulted. It was not your fault.
