Most historic ceramics that I've copied have a surface design. 18th C. British agateware is different, made of two clays wedged together. During trimming the marbling is revealed. I love how this one turned out! Sherds were recovered in St. Augustine, Florida. #maniarchaeology

Hard to argue with this: “People tend to view native people as a monolith, but there are so many tribes in the southeast with different perspectives and viewpoints, [and] it’s important to help elevate voices and ensure we are doing things the right way” clarksvilleonline.com/2024/05/30/aps…

We just happened to shake a pottery sherd one day, and Emily took it from there. Delighted to be involved in this study of pottery rattles and their technology. Collections research FTW! @emweasels Florida Museum

July was a busy month at DAACS! We hosted an excellent group of scholars and friends for a month-long DAACS Summer Institute at Monticello. DAACS staff conducted training for field record digitization and material culture analysis. #daacs #monticello #daacssummerinstitute
