As Mayor of Miami-Dade, home to the largest Venezuelan community in the U.S., I strongly condemn the assault and kidnapping of María Corina Machado by Maduro’s forces. We stand in solidarity with the people of #Venezuela in demanding her swift release and an end to this brutal regime.

Congratulations to Nikki Fried on her re-election as Florida Democrats Chair. It’s critical that the Party chart a fresh approach ahead of the midterm elections. Guided by the kitchen-table values that matter most to residents, I know we can  move Florida forward together.

During Black History Month, we recognize the incredible contributions of Black Americans to our nation's history and culture. In Miami-Dade, we celebrate the diversity and richness of our community, and strive to build a more inclusive and equitable future for all.

Miami-Dade is home to one of the largest Haitian communities in the U.S., and this decision puts thousands of our families at risk. We must secure our borders—but revoking #TPSforHaiti only deepens this crisis rather than solving it.

I’m deeply concerned about the proposed federal budget—especially steep cuts to Medicaid & other programs that millions of Floridians depend on. We must ensure that efforts to reduce federal spending don’t jeopardize access to life-saving care for our most vulnerable. My letter:

This week’s court ruling was welcome news for the tens of thousands of Venezuelans in our community who followed the legal process for immigration status – with so many having fled oppression and persecution at home. This is your victory!

Today, Gov DeSantis announced he plans to sign into law SB700 which bans fluoridation of water systems statewide. I’m disappointed by this decision that will have real & lasting consequences for the health of our residents, particularly our most vulnerable children & families.
