Pitt took 69 shots, Ohio State took 54 shots. Ohio State took 15 fewer shots and lost by one point. Defensive rebounding. Not good.

Was told that Bruce Thornton got "clipped in the back of the leg" by a Pitt player when Pitt was celebrating the win. No word on how bad it is. He will be evaluated soon.

Asked both Diebler and Thornton about the final possession. They both said the priority was to A) make sure that the guy with the ball caught the inbound running the opposite direction of the basket and B) make sure to contest whatever shot they get without fouling.

Don't have the exact quote but neither of them think Pitt got an easy look there at the end, both said it was a tough shot. Thornton said the bigger issue was throwing away opportunities with turnovers/rebounding where they could have avoided that situation entirely.

My guess is that once the NET rankings come out in a few weeks, Pitt will be pretty bad but since it was a road game this will be a Q-2 loss. Does not tank your opportunity at the NCAA Tournament, but the way to leave no doubt is to win the games you are supposed to win.

Somehow, every student who has ever been Brutus has done an outstanding job capturing his personality, because our nut definitely has a personality.

Ohio State is #63 in the initial NET rankings, just behind perennial powerhouses High Point, California Baptist, and Columbia. Notre Dame is 86, Pitt is 147, so Ohio State is 1-1 in Quad-3 games, 5-0 in Quad-4 games.
